Axicon Barcode Verifiers
Axicon barcode verifiers are widely used by UK suppliers who require ISO barcode verification to meet retailer, customer and regulatory requirements.
For organisations supplying supermarkets, healthcare providers and other regulated industries, using an Axicon barcode verifier for retail compliance helps prevent rejected deliveries, re-labelling costs, chargebacks and product disposal caused by poor barcode quality.
As a UK-based authorised Axicon sales, calibration and certification centre, Weyfringe support customers who require ISO barcode verification in the UK to protect their supply chains and reduce the risk of retailer penalties linked to barcode failure.
Let's Make It StickAxicon Barcode Verifiers for ISO Retail Compliance
Axicon barcode verifiers are designed for organisations that need confidence, consistency and traceability in barcode quality assessment.
They are commonly selected where:
- Barcode quality must be demonstrated against ISO standards
- Verification results need to be saved, shared or audited
- Multiple barcode symbologies or packaging formats are used
- Consistent grading is required regardless of operator
ISO-Compliant Barcode Verification
Axicon barcode verifiers are manufactured and assessed to international standards including:
- ISO/IEC 15416 – Linear (1D) barcodes
- ISO/IEC 15415 – 2D barcodes
- ISO/IEC 15426 – Verifier performance and conformance
Clear pass/fail summaries support routine production checks, while detailed analysis is available for technical investigation, supplier approval or audit evidence.
How Axicon Verifiers Are Used in Practice
Axicon verifiers are used across the supply chain for both preventative quality control and formal compliance verification.
Typical applications include:
- Verifying retail barcodes before goods leave site
- Supporting retailer, customer or regulatory audits
- Ensuring consistency across multiple printers or locations
- Investigating barcode failures and print quality issues
This approach to barcode quality control is commonly used as part of retailer penalty avoidance, where suppliers must demonstrate consistent barcode quality before goods enter automated retail and distribution systems.
Systems are available in portable and PC-connected formats, allowing verification at the point of print, on the packaging line or within QA environments.
Axicon Verifier Range
Axicon offer a range of barcode verifiers designed to suit different barcode sizes and applications.
Retail & Inner-Pack Verification (6000 Series)
Designed for verifying commonly used retail barcodes such as EAN-13, UPC-A, Code 128 and ITF, including barcodes printed on curved containers.
Continuous scanning versions allow multiple measurements across the height of the barcode, as required by ISO standards.
Multi-Purpose Verification (6500 Series
Suitable for verifying EAN/UPC, GS1-128 and ITF-14 barcodes across retail and distribution packaging, offering greater flexibility for mixed packaging environments.
Outer Case & Pallet Label Verification (7000 Series)
Designed for large-format barcodes used on outer cases and pallet labels, including GS1-128 and ITF-14.
Commonly used in warehouse, dispatch and logistics environments.
1D and 2D Barcode Verification (15000 Series)
Axicon 15000 series verifiers are capable of verifying both linear (1D) and 2D barcodes within a single field of view.
They are widely used in industries adopting 2D barcodes, including healthcare, pharmaceuticals and regulated manufacturing.
Multiple barcodes can be verified simultaneously, with individual results clearly displayed and recorded.
Portable Barcode Verification
Axicon verifiers can be used portably via handheld display units or compatible Android devices, allowing barcode verification away from fixed workstations.
Verification results can be saved and uploaded later for reporting and traceability.
UDI, Healthcare and FMD Compliance
Axicon 15000 series verifiers are commonly used to support Unique Device Identification (UDI) and pharmaceutical labelling requirements, including the Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD).
FMD requires prescription medicines to carry a 2D Data Matrix barcode encoding a unique serial number, product code, expiry date and batch number. These barcodes must be printed and verified to ISO standards to ensure reliable scanning throughout the healthcare supply chain.
Clear Results and Full Traceability
Axicon verifiers allow manufacturers and packers to confirm ISO-compliant print quality, correct GS1 DataMatrix structure and consistent verification results suitable for audits and quality systems.
Axicon verification software provides:
- Clear summary results for rapid decision-making
- Detailed analysis to identify the cause of barcode failures
- Automatic saving of verification results and barcode images
- Report generation to support quality management systems and due diligence
This supports traceability requirements under standards such as ISO 9001.
Axicon Training, Certification & Demonstrations
Axicon Verifier Certification and Calibration
Weyfringe are an Axicon Verifier Certification Centre, able to test and certify Axicon verifiers to their original ISO standards.
Certification is recommended annually, after impact or damage, or where equipment is used in harsh environments.
Units that pass certification are issued with a compliance certificate. Where required, Weyfringe can also arrange repair, recalibration and loan equipment to minimise downtime.
Certification is by prior arrangement and can often be completed within 3 working days.
Training and Operator Support
Effective barcode verification depends on both the right equipment and proper understanding of results.
Weyfringe offer operator training to help teams:
- Interpret verification results correctly
- Identify the causes of barcode failure
- Make appropriate print quality adjustments
Training is available alongside system supply or as a standalone service.
Free Demonstrations and Expert Advice
Weyfringe offer free, no-obligation demonstrations of Axicon barcode verifiers, either virtually or on-site.
Demonstrations allow you to:
- Confirm suitability for your application
- Understand verification results in context
- Ask practical questions with one of our Engineers.
Our team provide practical, experience-led advice based on real production and compliance environments.
